Here i have my baby for sale...Its a 2002 acura rsx with 73000 miles on it. I started this car about 2 years ago and now im in need of money to further my education at Florida Southern college. This car would make a great daily driver or just a nice sunday cruiser. It has over 15k in mods.
This car has been maintained on or ahead of schedule for every interval. I have many records available, but not all, since much of the work has been performed by myself or business associates of mine at their shops in exchange for my services.
- It has never been raced, ragged, or abused. I drive my cars like an old lady to protect the paint.
- Under the hood, it is completely stock, with the exception of an AEM V2 intake, an Optima Red Top battery, and Iridium spark plugs.
- The "Check Engine" light is ON, but the car runs great, with no loss of power since it lit up. I am told it most likely has to do with the intake's temperature sensor relocation. With the stock intake on it, it goes away.
- I personally installed all of the aftermarket electronics. I am an MECP Certified Installer and have been in this industry for over six years, with a great deal of custom/showcar installation experience.
- Prior to becoming a "sunny day only" car with less than 50 miles a week, it was driven daily between the north and south side of Syracuse NY, mostly on highways.
- Two years ago, I had the entire body, except the roof, repainted from the metal up, in the factory Satin Silver Metallic by a very highly regarded shop which specializes in custom cars and classics---Tony's Paint & Body Shop. Every dent, scratch and surface blemish was painstakingly eliminated over a 7 week period. The retail total was estimated to be around $4,500 for the work done.
- Some minor body modifications were performed, such as shaving the rear "ACURA" and "RSX" emblems, cutting out the hideous plastic in the front grille and foglight areas, painting the upper front grill outer moldings to match the body color, adding the clear-coated silver mesh behind these areas, and adding the Acura Optional Equipment body kit.
- Since completion, there are a couple of imperfections, such as a hairline crack in the top center of the front lip (body kit part) and though none are noticable, I am sure there are some other minor blemishes somewhere on the body.
- After allowing the paint to cure for three months before driving it on the highway, a clear mask (paint protection) was applied to the front bumper, hood, fenders, side-view mirrors, under the door handles, under the trunk handle, and on the edges of both doors in order to keep the paint in pristine condition. At a recent show, some bonehead in a green Dodge Dakota did a burnout in front of me and got hot rubber on the front bumper, which seeped into the clear mask. The affected area was carefully cut away, but my original plan was to have the mask redone. I have opted not to do so in order to accomodate the purchaser; whether or not the mask stays/goes is their decision.
- The 18" X 7" Racing Hart D6000 rims are about three years old, and thus have some wear. The emblems are somewhat faded and each wheel has its own form of nicks, scratches, and some curb-checks from this car's daily driver phase.
- The Nankang 225/40/18 tires were to be temporary since the next step after the air ride installation was a brand new set of 19"s. They are well-worn in the front due to the alignment not being totally corrected since the air-ride project began. (2 brand new ones will be included and car will be aligned incase wanting to drive home)
- About three years ago, Progress Technology springs were installed for a 2" drop.
- Immediately following was a full camber correction, which was performed to bring the camber back to stock specifications.
- Since the rear tires tucked and would rub the metal of the fenders, the lip of each fender was cut and rolled upward on the inside, then sprayed to protect against rust. This was done by the same body shop who lovingly cared for the rest of the body.
- The radar detector will accompany the car. It is an Escort 8500 which is hardwired via RJ-11 telephone cord to power on and off with ignition. In addition, I have installed a very discreet black button on the lower left of the steering column which provides a 620-ohm GROUND pulse to the radar detector's circuitry in order to instantly MUTE the audio alerts without pushing the button on the detector itself.
- Before the audio system was installed, the entire trunk, interior rear quarter panels, and both doors were covered in Dynamat Extreme to deaden noise and PolyFil polyester stuffing was used to fill every single nook and cranny to further enhance sound quality (it is not present in the body cavities now since the latest project involved removal of the interior panels, but will accompany the car).
- There are an absurd amount of additional functions in this car. A master plan of all aftermarket electronics will be included, accompanied by easily understood instructions on every single function.
- A StreetGlow underbody WHITE neon kit was installed a couple of years ago, and can be activated via a switch in the car, or a channel on the remote.
- Audio source units consists of a Pioneer DEH-P9400MP AM/FM/XM/CD Player with motorized Organic EL face, Pioneer XM Satellite Radio tuner located under the passenger seat, with no obstruction of moving parts, and an interior-mounted Delphi XM antenna, which rests on the plastic frame of the removable rear deck piece. It is only noticeable from the very rear of the back window, with no cords showing at all, as they were ran through the plastic frame and the factory grommets.
- Amplification is provided by a Sound Stream Rubicon Four-Channel amplifier, located between the interior and exterior right rear quarter panels, and provides power to the Pioneer 6.5" midrange co-axials front and rear, and Audiobahn tweeters located in the factory locations on the dash. Some modifications were performed to the inner structure in order to provide adequete room for the chassis of the amp. On the left of the rear, in the same fashion, a Bazooka Class-D Mono amp is hidden to drive the subwoofer but is not used right now., Two alpine type r 12's(system is not included unless reserve is met!) are in the rear in a custom enclosure to cover all the air ride components with an apline 700 watt amp. Tsnumai, Rockford-Fosgate, and Stinger accessories were used to transfer power and signal.
- A Clifford RSX3.5 alarm/keyless entry/remote start/pager system was installed which does not only the standard functions, but also power window automation (DEI 530-T), sunroof automation (DEI 529-T), battery back-up (DEI 520-T), undercar neon activation, and some advanced features using Pulse Timers (Two DEI 528-T's), which can be turned ON or OFF which control the air-ride (bags) set-up. There are a total of four sirens located on the vehicle for enhanced loudness and prevention of siren removal. For visual deterrence, there are three red LED's flush-mounted from behind on the center of the dash and both A-pillars. They are not done the typical way using the surface-mount red plastic pieces. I can send pictures upon request.
- Again, I have spent ridiculous amounts of time designing the features for the electronics installed, so there are a couple of things I won't go into detail about here so I don't bore you.
- Instead of the cupholder beneath the sliding door in the front of the center console, there is a fiberglassed and finished display panel which houses a top-of-the-line Dakota Digital 5-Way gauge.(In the pictures) This programmable digital readout shows air pressure in the tank and all four corners of the car for constant monitoring, and also delivers signal to a well-hidden (unless ON) red LED as a low-pressure warning indicator.
- To control the bags, a hide-away 10-swith clear plexiglass box is capable of FRONT/BACK/SIDE-SIDE/PANCAKE and can also control each corner independently. There is a discreet black "Quick switch" in the cubby of the center console to operate "ALL UP" and "ALL DOWN".
- The front airstrut bags are installed, and work correctly, however the back left strut broke during assembly so it has the original strut in it. To buy another strut is 250.00 nothing to major, also you can send the damaged one back and theyll possibly fix it for free because its still under warranty. The stock front strut assemblies will be included, as well as the spare tire and some other parts that are not currently attached to the car.
- A apexi n1 catback that was put on by rev it custom rods and imports.
- The window film is FormulaOne 35% and the dot matrix on the upper part of the rear window is perfect. Usually installers will cut that area away on this car and many other Honda's.
- A zex wet nitrous kit has been added to the car also. It was for show purposes only if wanted it can be installed to use on motor.
This car has been to four shows, and taken three trophies:
- 1st Place Conservative RSX at the NOPI Super Show in Atlanta in 2002
- 2nd Place All RSX at the Freak Show in Kinston, NC in 2004
- 3rd Place All RSX at the Big Show in Petersburg, VA in 2005
-3rd place All RSX at The Sport Compact and Truck Blast in 2006.
